Is This Sling Right for Your Dog? A Fit & Safety Guide

Best suited for: Calm, relaxed dogs under 10 pounds — think toy breeds like Chihuahuas, Maltese, Yorkies, and Pomeranians who enjoy being carried close to your body and stay settled without wriggling. If your dog loves snuggling in and stays calm when held, they'll feel right at home here.

Not the best fit for: Anxious, high-energy, or squirmy dogs; dogs over 10 pounds; or dogs not yet comfortable being carried. For those pets, a fully enclosed carrier with a secure zipper top may be a safer, more comfortable choice.

Getting the Fit Right

Strap adjustment: The shoulder strap adjusts from 17" to 21" drop using the built-in slider. Shorten the strap so the sling sits snugly at your hip or across your torso — your dog's head should rest naturally at or above elbow height without you needing to support them manually.

Drawstring cinch: Use the drawstring to size the opening around your dog's body. It should be snug enough to keep your dog secure, but your dog must still be able to turn around inside and hold their head up comfortably. If they can't move naturally, loosen the cinch slightly.

Cinch tie for extra security: Once your dog is settled, tie the loose cinch ends together for an added layer of security during walks or busier outings.

Safety Latch

Always clip the interior safety latch to your dog's harness (not collar) before heading out. This backup tether keeps your dog attached to the carrier even if they shift or attempt to jump out. Check the clip every time before you leave.

When an Enclosed Carrier May Be a Better Fit

This sling is an open carrier designed for calm, relaxed outings. Consider a fully enclosed, zip-top carrier if your dog is new to being carried, tends to jump or lunge, will be in crowded or unpredictable environments, or simply needs a fully contained space to feel secure.
